May 6 - What was intended to be a quick blog on April 25, just before leaving Mukono to tour other parts of Uganda (Our non-RTV part of the week had us visiting friends in Mbarara, and safari'ng in Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls), became a non-starter when super slow internet cafes wouldn't upload 7mp images from our camera, so here it is, belatedly:

So we were supposed to be here to do "board work". That is, meet people, projects, partners and get an understanding of the land. But what do we do? We glory in our days of arts and paints and put up a sign. Funny thing is, Grace wanted a sign, and we didn't want to pay for it. It is not a cost that Raising the Village would normally pay. We are after all talking about supporting local communities in their own advancement... But instead, we realized part of the affordment of being from Canada is that we do get to play with paint in our youth any time we want... And that playful exuberance, here in the village, is a useful skill for a place without money, resources and opportunities.

Totally worth the price of admission. Even with Grace's rather American slogan.
